Penticton BC – West Kelowna man faces serious charges

A man from West Kelowna is facing numerous charges after being arrested for a hit and run involving two kayakers on Sunoka Beach near Summerland this summer. Penticton RCMP are recommending the unnamed fifty-eight year old man face charges of dangerous operation of a vessel causing bodily harm and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

The alleged hit and run occurred on August 12th when the man’s speed boat struck Myrna Quinn’s kayak. Quinn was kayaking with her friend Sheri Elliot when the speed boat headed towards them.  As a result of the collision Quinn sustained a broken leg  and both kayaks were destroyed.

The male resident of West Kelowna was released by RCMP and his next court appearance is October 27th in Penticton Provincial Court.
