VANCOUVER, B.C – The crowd at the Commodore Ballroom were given an outstanding performance from Sweden’s Icona Pop on Saturday night. A sold-out crowd of 1,000 fans came to see Caroline Hjelt, and Aino Jawo dance and sing the latest and greatest electro dance music to come out of Sweden since Ace of Base, and Robyn.

Icona Pop took their sweet time, but finally hit the stage at 11:09PM with the hit song “We Got The world” and from that moment on they had everyone in attendance on their feet dancing to flavourful pop music.

Icona Pop had tremendous energy, enthusiasm, and drive all night long. Their love for each other, music, and what they do as performers shone through to the audience. The crowd ate up everything they had to offer on stage. You could clearly see that Icona Pop are destined for big things as their careers are just entering their prime.

Caroline, and Aino’s second song was a catchy dance beat called “In The Stars”, which feature the lyrics… “We’ll be ruling in the sunlight, like we’re Pharaohs on the throne, we’ll be dancing in the moonlight, dancing all the way back home.” The fans were dancing like no tomorrow, and everyone at the Commodore Ballroom could not get enough Icona Pop.

You don’t often see a kazoo make an appearance during a concert, but Icona Pop’s Caroline Hjelt looked flawless as she perfected her kazoo playing skills during the song “Then We Kiss.” Aino often switched back and forth to the more traditional electric guitar throughout the show. Other than that both singers stuck to just using the microphone.

Icona Pop had a 70’s style looking disco spaceship on stage behind them that looked like it had seen better days. Both singers dressed in a black and white thigh high dress. Caroline’s was predominantly black, and Aino’s was wearing mainly white. It would have been nice to have seen at least one costume change during their performance but considering the time constraints it wasn’t to be.

The Stockholm duo were originally scheduled to visit Vancouver on September 2, 2013. Unfortunately they had to postpone that show after Aino Jawo came down with a serous illness. The crowd couldn’t have been more thrilled to have Icona Pop on stage. They brought the fans in from the Vancouver rain, and sang their hearts out all night. With the re-scheduled show in Vancouver being the last stop of The Iconic Tour, Caroline had his message for everyone in Vancouver. “This couldn’t be a better last show, you guys are amazing.”

As all performers do Icona Pop briefly left the stage before coming back to sing an encore. The evening ended with “Just Another Night,” and chart topping club anthem “I Love It.” In the latest music video released by Icona Pop, “Just Another Night” the pair sing about what happens after a night out on the town….”Close my eyes and we’re still naked, but then I see that my clock is changing, It’s just another night, on the other side.” This song is sure to be a hit and you can see the video for “Just Another Night” here.

As Icona Pop finished the show by singing “I Love It”, all the fans on the dance floor could be heard singing every last word as they snapped photos with their phones in hand. Nobody seemed to care about the amount of time it took for Icona Pop to take the stage because Icona Pop blew the doors off the Commodore Ballroom and gave the crowd every bit of energy they had left after a lengthy tour.

All together Icona Pop wowed the crowd with 12 songs during a fantastic 55-minute show. Vancouver fans received an early Christmas present from Sweden and they couldn’t have left any happier. Anyone who missed the show won’t have to wait long to see Icona Pop in Vancouver again.

Icona Pop will visit Vancouver on February 14, 2014 with the Miley Cyrus Bangerz Tour. Icona Pop and Sky Ferreira will be the opening performers for Miley Cyrus. The 38 city tour kicks off in Vancouver and will travel all over North America for two and a half months. Fans in Canada can look forward to seeing the tour in Montreal on March 29, and in Toronto on March 31.

Miley Cyrus will be the main attraction on the Bangerz Tour, but make no mistake Icona Pop have all the pedigree, skills, and talent to stand out on their own as performers. Fans attending the tour need not arrive late because Icona Pop are definitely a must see when they visit your city.

Notes: Icona Pop will perform at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve show hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy live from Times Square in New York City on December 31, 2013.
